Guest Dog and more

Guest Dog and more

I have a visiting dog. Her name is Lulu. That is short for Lucretia Borgia. She is sweet and unassuming and loving. She was sad when her Dad left her here with me. But he (my son in law) had taken the precaution of getting her a new tag with my phone number and address on it. She is well loved at home. And since they must be away for 2 weeks, what better place than at Gramma’s house?

She is settled in. She sleeps in my bed and packs up with the other dogs. She is sweet and quiet and comfortable here. I am happy to keep her, because it is a way to show love for my children and enjoy myself at the same time. Lulu is pure pleasure. She is an under the covers sleeper. And though she has practically no hair, she is warm as toast. She wears a sweater now that the weather is cooler because she has no way to keep warm on her own. But when I bring her up to bed the sweater is removed so that she won’t overheat in bed under the feather duvet. Her delicate little feet tipped with longish toes, and rather elongated nails support her chunky little body.

Yesterday I went to a party where I had my photo taken with the Batmobile from the actual movie Batman. It is pretty amazing to look at. If I had not had this photo taken no one would have believed me, I think. When I think about the detail of this car it is truly amazing that they built it. But I suppose it was a dream come true for some boy or girl to work on a prototype of the car they had dreamed about for years.

Me and the Batmobile

That party was one of a kind. Much of glamorous Washington DC was there. The food was extraordinary and the abundance notable. The deserts were creative and delicious. I regret not taking a photo of them because they were truly unusual.

So my week is ending with the arrival of my sister and a trip up to Delaware to visit a granddaughter on Parents weekend at her boarding school. My life is full these days and I am grateful.
